Things I Learned This Week

Pink Grey

Pink Grey 2
Blazer - Thrifted (Boys Suit Jacket), Cowl Neck Sweater - Dex
Jeans - Juicy Couture, Shoes - Prada

Here's a List of Things I Learned This Week:
1. If I try and write a post when I'm hurting even when my desire is to sound hopeful, it won't.
2. That I'm the kind of girl that scrunches her nose when she smells something foul, that contorts her face when she hears something mean, that stares with her mouth open when she sees something scary/terrible/disturbing...
So, OF COURSE it's silly to think I can hide my feelings on a post just because I'm not seeing each one of you, face to face. DUH.
3. That my readers = my friends. That you never cease to amaze me, with your kindness and your BIG hearts. Amazing.
4. That people I have yet to meet, but one day hope to, can brighten my day just as though you were a friend who lived 10 minutes away.
5. That it is possible to be too upset to eat or sleep. Seriously, did not know that. Wow.
6. That make-up works wonders, but not miracles.
7. That making cupcakes, is a great pick-me-up, perhaps even better than eating them. Not even lying.
8. That making sharp turns with said cupcakes in the backseat is never a good idea.
9. That I don't do sad well. I'd much rather be the silly girl that makes people laugh.
10. Oh, I also learned that using Windows Live Writer is sooo easy but makes your photos gargantuan. Sorry if seeing me this BIG creeps you out. I'll keep playing around with it and try to find a happy medium between HUGE and Blogger's mini pics.
Thank you for being you.
I love you guys.
Things are much better now. I promise.
Really looking forward to catching up on all I missed.
Happy weekend, loves!
xx Ela

  1. you look amazing in this outfit! i hope you start feeling amazing too. not sure what is up, but i will check out posts below.

p.s. it is really hard to be cheery on a blog when not feeling that way. really hard. i have had to fake it a lot for the past month, and i know it shows. :(

  2. I am so glad you're a bit better... and I don't mean to make light of your hurt, but look what you learned through all of it? Wouldn't it be nice if we could erase all of the hurt and tears from life? But since we can't, I'm always grateful for the things I come out of a storm with- and am amazed time and time again that the heart just keeps healing its broken pieces. Sigh... hope every day this weekend heals you even more until you are completely whole again... love you still in the meantime :)
Oh yeah, and about that Burberry... I am totally fine with thrifted, pre-owned, whatever. I love the classic Burberry plaid, but just want something fun. And IF there would be any way to stay under $100 (wishful thinking I am sure...) that would be awesome. You're the bestest!! Happy weekend!

  4. I love that purple sweater. That is a great color on you. It looks very chic with the gray blazer. :)
I'm sorry you had a rough weekend, but I'm glad you're feeling better! I liked your lessons, although the cupcakes in the backseat one made my heart stop. Lol. (I love cupcakes to the point where I fantasize about them every five seconds, like the way some men fantasize about sex).
I know you can't be happy all the time and we (your friends) certainly don't expect you to. Because that would be weird and we might get suspicious. Lol.
Anyway, glad to see you back. I missed you!

  14. well i just learned that you are the sweetest person alive, but besides that not too much :) seriously tho ela, you left the sweetest comments and you just made my day. i completely agree with what you said up there ^^ about bloggers turning into friends. as cheesy as it may sound blogging really has changed my life a little. it's become an outlet for me and the encouraging comments i get cheer me up so much. i'm thankful for ladies like you that i've created a bond with and when you guys hurt it hurts me and i wish i could send a giant batch of cookies. i'd never thought it was possible to be so upset that you couldn't eat, but this past spring i experienced that kind of pain. i'm so sorry to hear that you had to go through that and if you need anyone to talk to you know i'm just an email away :) you look beautiful, as always, in those pictures and i love your outfit! i need to try windows live writer, i've heard great things about it. alright my dear, i'm about done with my novel ;) have a wonderful friday and weekend. big hug to you!

  16. ela my bella...

so glad things are looking up for you. i'm with you on #2. i canNOT hide my feelings for shit. if i love you, i have the heart eyes. if i hate you, i have the stink eyes. if i'm confused by you, i have the blank blinking eyes. and if i'm scared shitless by you, i have the wondering/looking for the nearest exit eyes.

anyway, have a fabulous weekend friend! you look fabulous as always! xoxo

  17. Love this look- I thought it was a suit!

I am glad to hear things are better for you- I have had a tough week too w/ work and going on a "break" with my bf. Sadly, I have learned that I can cry for 4 hours straight at night, sleep, and wake up to cry again.

But it's a sunny day and life goes on.

    :)

  24. hehe loving reading the 10 things about you! I don't do sad well either and I totally agree with hiding feelings behind blogspot- like I don't post things to do with my phobia or what I actually do for work! What if a stalker finds my blog and decides to kill me like in those movies...

  31. You are so darling.
I really hope everything gets better for you - thank you for asking for prayers by those affected by the typhoons. Being at BYU Hawaii, I have a lot of classmates who have been deeply affected and I really appreciate that.

  32. 4. That people I have yet to meet, but one day hope to, can brighten my day just as though you were a friend who lived 10 minutes away.

I agreee with this, it's so true! It makes me smile.

  33. Awww Ella! Sounds like you are having quite a tough time! I really hope things begin to look up soon! God never closes a door without opening a window and that's the truth! I'll keep you in the thoughts and prayers!

Oh and that is SO true about cupcakes. In college I was in a sorority. Sometimes sororities can have more drama than a bad high school production of Romeo and Juliet. SO before an event where I knew there would be ample amounts of passive aggressive cat fighting I would bake cupcakes... for the entire chapter. It would take me the whole day usually. But it calmed me and made me feel so happy. And when I gave them to the girls. things were always exponentially better at the event.

  35. Have not read you in awhile, and I'm noticing you're having a hard time.

I believe, too, that make up does work incredible miracles, as does love from complete strangers and e-friends.

I hope your heart starts to look up soon, and remember that prayers work magic, too. I'll be praying for you and ending you karmic love waves.

  40. Looooove your blazer and that cowl neck sweater! Yesh, baking is always my go-to when I feel down. I'm actually allergic to egg, but my brother is always there to eat them up lol. Hope you're well dear, being down is never fun, but I guess afterwards it puts things into perspective and you can get back to being your bubbly fun self :) Really do hope you're having a gorgeous weekend!
