So last Friday I whined about things I had to do but couldn't find the time for...looks like the stress got to me and made my body go haywire. Friday morning, I woke up with a wicked sore throat, then came the loss of my voice, the fever, the chills, the loss of appetite followed by the odd cravings. But today....dare I say...I think this is the beginning of the end.
Dear S,
Thank you for thinking it was cute when all I could do to communicate was give a thumbs up and a thumbs down,
I forgive you for asking "what?" three times when I finally started to get my voice back,
Thank you for ignoring the greasy, unwashed hair,
I forgive you for asking very loudly in public, "Is that a tissue box in your bag???"
Thank you for acting like it was a madhouse when you returned from one of my favourite NYC shopping spots.
I forgive you for shopping there, while I was curled up in bed in layers of clothing, wrapped like a burrito in two blankets trying to keep from freezing,
Thank you for showing me what you bought, you know how I love to see the goodies,
I forgive you for not buying me anything. Both times. No, the box of tissue does not count.
Thank you for not asking "really?" when I asked you to buy me some apples.
I forgive you for not getting me that bottle of water when my throat was about to close up,
Thank you for not complaining when I picked the first place I saw delivered to Tribeca, which happened to serve us the worst mexican food we've ever had,
I forgive you for feeding me horse pills to suppress my cough, I suppose when they get stuck in your throat, they suppress something,
Thank you for waking up at 7am when I was so hungry and my stomach was eating itself, to go and get me some breakfast,
I forgive you for giving me the stink eye when I spilled grape juice all over myself as I tried to take a sip,
Thank you for waiting oustide the bathroom door, to wrap me in a bathrobe when I came out of the shower and finally washed my hair, (it sounds creepy but it was actually very sweet),
I forgive you for scaring the heck out of me with said sweet gesture,
Thank you for setting the thermostat to 24C(75.2F) so I didn't feel like a popsicle,
I forgive you for previously insisiting 22C(71.6F) was more than warm enough,
Thank you for taking such good care of me when I'm a sicky-poo,
I forgive you for thinking I wasn't really sick, when I said I was, on Friday.
Kisses
p.s. Now that I'm feeling a little better, I may or may not buy some stuff at the mall conveniently down the street from our hotel. Lots of stuff.
Hope you all had fabulous weekends!
xx Ela
p.s. To my NYC friends, sorry I didn't let you know I was in town, I just found out Friday night we'd be in NYC for less than 24 hours. And I was too sick (and unattractive) to see anyone. Next time, please save me a date :)
p.p.s. If I'm slow to get to your blog, it's only because reading is taking me at least 3 times longer than what it should, I'll get there I promise.
