Wandom Weekend

No I don't really talk like a toddler. Well, sometimes I do. There, now you know.

Friday night S went to go see 2012 with the boys. I stayed home, caught up with some shows online and gave myself a manicure. Is it too much to ask for a manicure to last me more than two days?

Fast forward to Sunday, the first nail I ruined was the one on my thumb. I was in a daze cutting onions and got careless with the knife. I suppose I should be grateful I did a base coat, two coats and a top coat. Clearly my manicure saved me from actually hurting myself.

The second one I lost - yes "lost" - was on my ring finger. It popped right off while I was in the shower.

And sitting in the kitchen -  yes just sitting - I discovered I lost another one. On my middle finger. Wtheck??? Just so we're clear, the polish was painted onto my nails, I have no idea why they are popping off like fake nails. I've been using OPI forever and doing my own nails for even longer and this has never happened before.

Clearly, I have no intention of putting an end to taking showers or sitting so I imagine more will fall off throughout the week. I can't be bothered to take the polish off the rest of the fingers right now, I'd much rather spend the time complaining about it, and who knows when I'll get to repaint them, so here I am with 7 1/2 fingers manicured. Perhaps, I'm just ahead of the trend.

Rewind to Saturday night when S and I finally saw New Moon. My favourite line from the whole movie..."What a marshmallow." Mmmm...marshmallows. At some point in the movie, S turned to me and said he'd like to be a wolf. Great, take the side that can't even afford shirts on their backs. I'd rather be a vampire, with clothes, a car and look like a 20 year old when I'm 104. And can someone please tell me what's up with the Bellya aches??? Why did Bella keep clutching at her side throughout the entire movie like she had a insane case of cramps? And don't think I didn't notice that she had to touch Jacob's abs every chance she could get. Edward who? Sparkle what? Stinkin' crazy abs.

S challenged me to a game of air hockey at the movie theatre right after the movie. I won. But bruised myself when I hit my hip on the table doing my victory dance as I accepted my win graciously.

Is it just me, or is my thumb looking ridicously long, like ET long?

Sunday was filled with Church, visiting friends, nap time on the couch, eating steak and chocolate cake, and cooking three lasagnas,  because we're pigs since two are for Monday's dinner...we like to start the week off with lots of carbs we're having people over.
What'd you guys do?
xx Ela
p.s. Thank YOU for sharing what you love about yourselves, I really enjoyed reading all your comments. And am pretty sure they made me heart you, even more ;)

  1. aww lovely outfit! Those boots are stunning! Yeah I'm not great at having manicures stay on either. Some girls I know uses super glue but... hmmm that seems a bit harsh... then when you take it off there's the residue of glue on your nails... hmmm do you find that? or is it just me? I would like to do up my nails before I go back home this wednesday haha

  3. haha love your thoughts on New Moon. Kristian said he would rather be a Vampire which surprised me.

I agree Bella looked like she was in physical pain the whole movie. Loved the marshmellow line too!

Sounds like you had a great weekend!

  4. As always.. I laughed out loud and just felt all around better once I was done reading about your lovely weekend.
And you know I think you're the most beautiful person alive... but you do seem to have an ET thumb going on in this pic... hee hee.... so funny.
And I love air hockey- it has been forever and a year since I've played it though.
Just hearing about New Moon makes me want to go see it again. Some friends and I are planning to go in a week, once we're all "home" for our Christmas break from school. It cannot come soon enough!!
xoxoxxxxx (lots of extra hugs for you)

  9. I used to talk baby babble with my first boyfriend/Fiancé, and now that I look back on it, I am terribly disgusted we made up all that baby talk nonsense. I mean, it's sick. That's the kind of stuff you really should reserve for children! Oh boy.

I haven't seen New Moon yet, but from your review, I think I might perhaps be making fun of it the entire time. I doubt I'll be able to see it anytime soon as I'll be in T.Dot this weekend (Hope we can meet up!), then Victoria the weekend after! Whew! What a crazy holiDAZE that awaits me, eh?

  11. Woooah, that polish is crazy talk! I can't the color just falls right off! lawd! hahaha, i LOVED you New Moon commentary, but i am all team Jacob, prefer him cause he is a bit less abusive than Edward (esp. in the books). Jacob treats Bella right and isn't weird and posessive, a much better model of what a real relationship should look like.

Oh and i love your scarf and those boots, so pretty!

  13. Love your look. Simple but great. What a funny story the one with your nails. They do look like fake ones instead of nail polish. I guess your lasagna was delicious.

  15. painted nails! never! i don't even bother with a clear coat anymore on the fingernails -- it is a LOST CAUSE for me! and sadly my hands are a wreck! ack. so are my feet, but they are covered with socks and boots so who cares. well, i care. i need a mani/pedi!

hope your wolf man is keeping you warm during this season.

p.s. you do NOT have an ET thumb, so stop it.

  16. The thing with the nails is crazy! I've never seen the polish just come off like that! Although I do agree that no matter how great the polish, they'll never last beyond a few days... such a waste... sigh.

Love your scarf and the boots by the way! And I have yet to see anything from the Twilight series... I may one day just to see what the hype is about, but I think it's just the same teenie drama you see elsewhere, except they guys happen to have longer teeth and too much fur ;-)

  17. I love the infinity scarf and the studded boots...you look so cool in that outfit Ela.

Akala ko meron ulit nasira na nails when you played air hockey with the hubby. The good thing is your nails are ok, it's just the polish that's kinda funny.

  18. Oh no! Sorry about the nails, that is so crazy that they just keep popping of left and right! Maybe it was the nail brand? Silly nail polish! Ha ha, I am totally with you on the New Moon abs and all, Jacob is hot even though it would be so much fun to be a vamp!

Good for you for eating yummy food oh and you look so pretty, as always. XOXO!

  25. Your weekend was way better than mine. It sounds fabulous. I say you go with the I'm ahead of the trend mentality. I love love love that scarf!

  26. I adore your boots! And I hardly ever paint my nails anymore, because with cooking and doing the dishes and walking the dogs, those suckers are ruined in a day and a half. And a professional manicure lasts just a day or two longer. Sigh. I do love that pretty color you picked out, though!

    xx

  27. Haha, your thumb is not ET long! I'm glad you had a good time at the movies. I thought the SAME thing with bella and the whole holding the stomach and sides. I was like what's wrong with her?!?! Thanks for the dress advice. I bought the dress so I'm for sure going to be wearing it somewhere.

  32. He he, I read your comment while Vivaldi was sunggled in my neck. The two bunnies are running around my feet while I'm at the desk. Funny creatures!

Your thumb is REALLY long! Is that a sign of intelligence? I'm with you on the vampire thing. It really freaks me out that Kristen Stewart actually sounds like Bella in real life.

What did you think of 2012? I might take IB tomorrow eve, that's if it's good!

  33. Ela ~ OmGosh, sorry about the nails. :( Woo hoo for New Moon! :) After seeing it for 3 times (yah, I know!! crazy huh), I'm still on Edwards side. ;P Yah, Jacob may have a great bod, but that's it... he doesn't do it for me.. hee hee.

Hope you're having a lovely week Ela!

    Take care sweetie.

  35. LMAO

so sorry about your nails but this sis hilarious ... made me smile when i saw all those nails ... sometimes adding too many coats or basea nd top can cause the manicure to fall of like this ..i discovered this the other day and now i dont use the base coat unlessim wearing dark polish

  38. I hate when nail polish does that!! And yeah for New Moon!! That is so funny your husband said that.. I had made sure to shush my husband of any sarcastic comments before the movie. He did pretty well...with a few that slipped out here and there!

  39. This is so funny! Really I ask, why are they chipping off in big chunks?! Be glad though this saves you a ton of time from having to scrub your nails with polish remover. Just pop them off (by sitting or taking a shower) and they're gone just like that... like magic! If only you could will them exactly when to do that! ;)

Penny for your thoughts?
